Kid-friendly PD tool that actually works

I’m rethinking how I take PDs on preschoolers — our old digital pupillometer (Nikon PD-5) feels bulky and distracting. What handheld option keeps little eyes engaged and gives reliable readings within about 0.5 mm, and are there gentle tricks (sticker targets, soft fixation lights) that have worked for you?
