Reducing edge chips on 1.67

Seeing micro-chipping during deblocking on 1.67 high-index even with a final 3 µm fining pass and deblocking under cold water; polariscope shows stress bands at the nasal edge on +3.00 D. Before I tweak blocker pressure and swap to softer pads, has anyone had better results by extending the safety bevel to 0.4 mm or slowing the edger feed on a Satisloh?

Are you deblocking with alloy or pads? On our Satisloh, slowing the finish pass and reducing chuck pressure via the ‘Fragile/HI’ setting helped more than pushing the safety bevel to 0.4 mm on lenses showing ‘stress bands at the nasal edge’ — easing off the gas before the last corner.

Rotating the block 10–15° so the ‘nasal edge’ isn’t the lead‑out on the finish pass stopped our 1.67 chips on a Satisloh by shifting the last contact to a thicker quadrant. I’ve kept the safety bevel at about 0.25 mm after that, no need to slow feed. Is your current lead‑out landing nasal?
